Sample  Assignments

The following projects are designed to develop  Flash skills,  communication, and critical
 thinking skills

 

1.  Create an animated banner for Martha's Party Center.

Make the banner animated and give it a festive look.  Add animation for a text block, balloon graphics, and confetti graphics.  The balloons will float up as the confetti comes down.  The text block will move in from above the banner to the bottom of the banner.

2.  Create a Web banner using the Masking technique

Create an animated banner for the Web. The company advertises holidays.  They want you to create a banner advertising Hawaii.  Use the masking technique to an animated place an image behind the words:  
GRAND CANYON

When the Flash movie is played, you  will see the image moving behind the words.  Use the in-class example as your guide.

3. Create an advertisement for a toy shop using the perspective scroll 

Create an advertisement for a toy shop.  The company will provide the words, but want you to use a perspective scroll similar to that used in the Star Wars films.    First, make a starry sky, then add the text supplied by the toy shop.  Now  use the Free Transform tool to create the text perspective effect.  Make the text fade out by setting the Brightness to -50.  Add the tween to create the animation.  Use the in-class Star Wars animation as your guide.  Finally, add an appropriate sound clip to extend the life of the Flash movie. 

4.  Create a personal portfolio consisting of two scenes and featuring a slideshow.  The slideshow will present samples of your work.

Scene one:  a) add a picture of yourself which will fade in and grow larger, b) a text block giving a brief biography should move in from the left,
c) include a sound that lasts the duration of the Flash movie.   Scene two:  a) add the title - Portfolio Slide Show.  This text should fade in and grow larger, b) Create a new movie clip symbol that includes a series of screens with a sample of your work and some explanatory text.  Each sample and associated text should appear in a separate frame, c) Add Stop actions to each frame in the movie clip symbol, d) Add a button which reads: click to view next slide - attach the appropriate Action scrip to advance the sample work, d) Add sound to the button, e) Add another button to take you back to the first scene (your first page) program the button so that it changes color when the user clicks on it,
f) finally, insert a button using the GetURL action to take the user to examples of other portfolios on the Web.
