What is ELMS?

The CIS Faculty Department at EMCC pays an annual fee to Microsoft from student fees for the student privilege to obtain Microsoft Software for free. Please take advantage of this program, it will assist you in your learning progress. Please note: We are bound by certain agreements from Microsoft. You also must agree to the Microsoft License Agreements before installing their software.

How does it work?

You first must have an Elms account created for you. Your account is based on a valid e-mail address you submit. After we create an Elms account for you, Microsoft will e-mail you your user account and temporary password. Please don't delete this e-mail! Once you have a user account, you can visit the Elms site here. You can browse what titles we have available for checkout. The Elms site does not have any software for download! All software must be picked up during normal business lab hours at EST243. The Elms site is a key generating site for Microsoft software keys. Example: If you wish to check out Microsoft Windows XP Professional, you would go to the ELMS site and check out Microsoft Windows XP Professional. The site will generate a software key, and immediately e-mail it back to you. This important! The key is only valid for 72 hours, or three days. This does not mean the software expires in 3 days, only the key! The software is good forever, or until you uninstall it. You must install the software within 3 days and activate it within 3 days. Make sure when you check out software and get a key you install and activate it right away. It is very difficult to get a second key for each title. You may also sign out the CD first, then take it home and get a key when you are ready to install it.

How do I get an Elms account?

Just fill out the form below and we will create an account for you. You will receive a username (your e-mail address) and a temporary password. (You may change your password once you log into Elms.) Any valid e-mail address will work, except Blitzmail. You may visit our lab any time during lab hours and check out Software CD's.
